Amber Fort , Jaipur, Rajasthan


Amber Fort, better known as Amer Fort is a spectacular historical building located in Jaipur, Rajasthan which had been constructed by the ruler Man Singh I and it is immensely popular for the presence of Hindu architectural elements.

Tourists will observe a Sila Devi Temple at the entrance of the fort. Along with the Jaigarh Fort, the Amer Fort is considered as a single complex, both being situated on the Aravalli Hills, and they are linked together by a passage.

History of Amber Fort
During medieval age, Amber Fort was famous as 'Dhundar' and witnessed the reign of Kachwaha rulers.

Amber was inhabited by the 'Meenas' who had built this area and consecrated it to Goddess Amba, who was greatly revered as the 'Queen of the Pass' or 'Gatta Rani'.

layout One will be able to access the first main courtyard known as 'Jaleb Chowk' through the Sun Gate. In olden days, armies held victory celebrations at this area, accompanied by war spoils which were observed by royal women through the latticed windows.
