The town of Dalhousie was named after the British Governor-General, Lord Dalhousie, who had declared this place as an ideal summer retreat. Dalhousie came into existence in the year 1854 by the British Raj in the country.  The Himalayan Mountain Ranges surround Dalhousie, which is situated on the western side of the Dhauladhar Mountains.

Himachal Pradesh is apt for the tourists to make visit the place every now and then. Summers are pleasant with maximum temperature of 23.5 degree Celsius. Minimum temperature is 15.5 degree Celsius. Winters are chilly and freezing. Maximum temperature is a 10 degree Celsius.
