Regional Radio Stations in IndiaRegional Radio Stations showcase the regional issue oriented programmes. All India Radio (AIR) initiated regional radio services in India. A variety of programmes of AIR cater to different regions and languages across India. Regional radio in India has reached almost all the states individually. The Punjabi radio, radio channels of West Bengal and others strictly cater to their colloquial audience. Similar channels are transmitted in other Indian states as well.

Radio Stations in Eastern India
As an important metro city, Kolkata has many important regional stations, private radio stations and national radio stations too. Radio SRFTI, Radio JU and Y FM NSHM are the private stations that are available within a particular radius from the particular institutions. Some other commercial and popular stations are:

Radio Mirchi (98.3 FM): Radio Mirchi maintains weekly music charts (or record charts) for India. The most followed charts are Mirchi Top 20 (Bollywood Songs) and Angrezi Top 20 (English Songs). Both of these charts are a ranking of recorded music according to popularity. Radio Mirchi was officially launched in Kolkata on May 2, 2003.

Red FM (93.5 FM): Red FM is an Indian FM radio network headquartered in Delhi. The network broadcasts content in various Indian Languages. On 14 August 2009, Surya FM was re-branded into RED FM across 64 cities in India.

Fever 104 FM: Fever FM is an FM radio station in India. It is currently available in 13 cities in India. Fever plays contemporary hit music in Delhi, Kolkata and also Chennai, while the other cities have a mix of contemporary and retro Bollywood music.

Other radio stations are Friends FM (91.9 MHz), Big FM (92.7 MHz), Radio One (94.3 MHz), AIR FM Gold (100.1 MHz), AIR FM Vividh Bharati (101.8 MHz), Ishq FM (104.8 MHz), AIR FM Rainbow (107 MHz) etc.

Radio Stations in North India
There are three All India Radio stations in Kanpur, AIR FM Gold, AIR FM Rainbow and Vividh Bharati. Another private institutional radio station is IIT Kanpur Radio (90.4 MHz). Indian capital Delhi has many stations operated by AIR like Aakashvani Ajmer, FM Rainbow, Aakashvani Rajdhani, AIR Jalandhar Punjabi, AIR Urdu, FM Gold, Vividh Bharati, AIR Delhi Indraprastha etc. Delhi has also some private institutional radio stations like DUCR FM, Radio Jamia, JIMS Raaga, Salaam Namaste Radio and KRIMS FM. Some popular radio stations are listed below:

Radio City: Radio City is India's first private FM radio station and was started on 3 July 2001. It broadcasts on 91.1 (earlier 91.0 in most cities) megahertz from Mumbai (where it was started in 2003), Bengaluru (started first in 2001), Lucknow and New Delhi (since 2003). It plays Hindi, English and regional songs. In 2010, Radio City has launched its first internet radio station Radio City Fun Ka Antenna and now they have 18 online radio stations.

Big FM: 92.7 Big FM is a national private FM radio station in India. It broadcasts primarily at 92.7 MHz from 58 stations across the country, reaching a potential audience of 450 million. It mainly plays music from local-language films along with occasional Western music. It broadcasts from 8am to 8pm in non-metro cities, while in metropolitan markets, it broadcasts a 24-hour schedule.
