Bahurupi



Bahurupi, a word which literally means "multi-formed", has been derived from Sanskrit Language bahu (many) and rupa (form), and is very popular in the Indian state of West Bengal. They are a group of folk actors who portray different characters, from gods to demons, humans to lepers, animals to children, engineers to doctors, birds to reptiles, holy men to professional men, merchants to tribal, fools and beggars.
