Gurudwaras in IndiaGurudwara is a Sikh place of worship and also referred to as a ‘Sikh Temple’. In Punjabi, it means the "doorway to the Guru". A Gurdwara always keeps its doors open for people of all religions and faiths. The objective of this place of worship is to find inner peace and unite with the Holy Spirit. The practitioners of this religion believe that the Sikh Guru helps in this process of unison and achieving peace.

The Sikh religion is spread in all over the country. This religion was founded by Guru Nanak, born in 1469. This religion was originally intended to bring together the best of the Hindu and Islamic religions. It implies certain principles of the Hindus as well as Muslims with important modification.

Sri Harmandir Sahib
Sri Harmandir Sahib, also popularly known as the ‘Golden Temple’, in Amritsar is regarded as one of the most eminent Gurudwaras in India. This is the one of the prominent shrines in the country. This place is the showcase of outstanding scenic beauty and golden coating. The Gurudwara is the showpiece of the prosperity and wealth of Punjab. Visiting the place initiates an exclusive experience.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is considered as the place of residence Sikh Guru Har Krishan Sahib whenever he visited Delhi. He is believed to have cured diseases like small pox, chicken pox and cholera which were an epidemic those days, with sacred water. That water now forms a “sarovar” around the Gurdwara. The people take a dip in it to remove all bodily and mental dirt.

Gurudwara Data Bandi Chod Sahib
This is located in GwaliorMadhya Pradesh. The 6th Sikh Guru Hargobind Singh Ji stayed in Gwalior Fort to pray for the health of Jahangir. After that, he is thought to have freed 52 Rajput rulers from the jails there. The Gurdwara is specifically popular for its beautiful “Palki Sahib” and a Sikh museum "Darshan Deorahi".

Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara
The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is one of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines. It is located on the bank of a glacial lake Hemkund or Lok Pal. The shrine is encircled by seven snow clad peaks and their associated glaciers. According to the Guru Granth Sahib, it is believed that Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs had meditated on the shores of a lake. Among the Gurudwaras in India, Hemkund Sahib is the highest Gurudwara of the World.

Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib
This Gurudwara is located in the mountains of Manali. It is considered as the first place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji meditated through his journey. At this place, he is believed to have performed few miracles.

Gurudwara Sri Keshgarh Sahib
Gurudwara Sri Keshgarh Sahib is also referred to as ‘Gurudwara Anandpur Sahib’. The city of Anandpur was founded by 9th Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. It is one of the 5 Takhts and a seat of authority. Hence, this temple of worship holds high esteem in the minds of Sikhs all over the world.
